Exemplary cooperation of Donit’s fire department with PGD Preska-Medvode
Yesterday afternoon, a practical exercise was held in our company in case of spillage of a dangerous substance, which started at 3 pm and lasted about an hour. The aim of the exercise was to check the readiness and competence of employees and fire brigades for quick and effective action in the event of emergencies.
The exercise was carried out by the fire department and employees of the company Donit, as well as twelve firefighters of the Preska-Medvode Volunteer Fire Association, who participated in the simulation of a real emergency.
The spill occurred due to incorrect handling of a forklift, during which an IBC container with a hazardous substance was punctured. The substance started leaking in the solvent transfer area, which required quick action. Despite the immediate intervention of the internal fire team, they failed to stop the leak, which is why they called the external fire department for help via the number 112. Within five minutes, the firefighters of PGD Preska-Medvode arrived at the scene and continued with the intervention. With quick and professional intervention, the dangerous substance was successfully pumped into a new container, thereby preventing further spread of potential damage.
The exercise went off without a hitch and provided valuable experience for all participants. With such exercises, we ensure a high level of safety and preparedness for possible emergency events.
